Mission Statement:
Our mission is to educate and to nurture during the middle school experience.
Princess Anne Middle School, valuing the individual's unique developmental
needs and the importance of positive self-concept, is committed to fostering
a student-centered, success oriented program dedicated to the academic
needs and personal fulfillment of early adolescents.
Princess Anne Middle School serves a student population
that represents the varied interests of our city. The farming community,
military dependents, Sandbridge residents, and a multitude of hard working
families are residents of the new boundaries for Princess Anne Middle.
The school serves students who attended Creeds, Christopher Farms, North
Landing (Blackwater), Princess Anne, Red Mill, and Strawbridge Elementary
Schools.
We
are moving even closer to our goal of a 100 percent pass rate for all
test takers. Students achieved 100 percent pass rate for the Earth Science,
Algebra 1, and Geometry tests. Social Studies 8 scores increased to a
96 percent pass rate from 71 percent Math 8 moved to almost a 92 percent
pass rate and science maintained a 95 percent level.
Over
55 percent of the students earned Honor Roll/Principals List designation.
The Virginia Beach School Board recognized the school once for Most
Approved Attendance. So many students had numerous individual recognitions
that are just too many to list.
With
interscholastic competitions, our girls basketball team earned the
city championship title for the second year in a row. The girls
soccer team, the volleyball team, the softball team, and the baseball
team earned the designation of city champions. Also, the boys soccer
team, academic challenge, both debate squads, and the forensics team were
division champions. Our one-act play received the highest possible rating.
Finally, our marvelous marching band received the highest recognition
at the Pungo Strawberry festival, best all around for the entire parade
and best middle school.
For
the third year, the school received full accreditation status from the
Virginia Department of Education. In October 1999, Princess Anne Middle
School was recognized by the VDOE as one of the top 25 performing middle
schools in the Commonwealth based on SOL test improvement. Outstanding
teaching and instruction help to continue this high level of achievement.
Princess Anne Middle School, home of the Panthers, is very proud of the
effort and achievement of our students and their superlative teachers.
Catch the spirit of excellence with our Panthers, each and every day!
